This TaylorMade Qi4D Max 3 Hybrid pairs the 20° head with REAX HL 50 by KBS in Stiff flex, listed at 51 g. It is a higher-forgiveness hybrid to evaluate if you want a long-iron replacement with a firmer shaft feel. The Max head’s rearward weighting is designed to help launch the ball and resist twisting on off-centre contact, giving the 3 Hybrid a distinct role between fairway woods and irons.
The 8 g TAS weight is positioned at the rear of the clubhead to support stability and higher MOI. A lightweight carbon crown contributes to the head construction. TaylorMade’s Speed Pocket is designed to help maintain ball speed on low-face contact, while Twist Face curvature aims to reduce dispersion on mishits. The Max Rescue uses fixed lofts; it does not have the 3° sleeve found on the standard Qi4D hybrid. That makes a launch and distance fitting important before choosing the 20° head.
Reference specifications are 40.75 inches, 106 cc, D2 swing weight and 59° lie. Right- and left-hand heads are offered. Compare carry and landing behaviour with your longest iron and next fairway club, and test the Stiff shaft against your usual hybrid.
