At 16°, it sits at the lowest loft in the U505 utility range and can bridge the gap between a fairway wood and the longest iron or hybrid in your bag. Its hollow high-strength steel body keeps a compact iron profile while creating room for speed-focused construction.

A forged L-face with V-Taper is intended to retain speed and add launch on low-face strikes. Improved Max Impact supports carry consistency, while split high-density tungsten helps position the centre of gravity for stability. The variable-bounce sole is shaped to move through turf, so the club can be tested from both tee and fairway rather than treated only as a driving iron.

This build pairs the 16° head with Project X HZRDUS Black 5G HY 80 in Stiff flex. Titleist lists the 6.0 shaft at 82 g with low-mid launch. The standard #1 is 40.25 inches with 60° lie. Check the set gap from your longest fairway club down to your hybrid or iron; a fitting can confirm whether this lower-lofted U505 gives useful carry and enough launch.

Technical specifications

Model

Titleist U505 #1

Loft / lie

16° / 60°

Length

40.25 in

Shaft

Project X HZRDUS Black 5G HY 80

Flex / mass

Stiff 6.0; 82 g

Launch

Low-mid

Head

Hollow high-strength steel; forged L-face with V-Taper

Explore Titleist golf clubs at The Bold Golfer.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1060/4098/3900/files/unnamed_e660a055-76cc-442f-a62a-0be7237cc901.jpg?v=1793036132
https://boldgolfer.com/products/titleist-golf-utility-iron-1-utility-16-hzrdus-black-5th-gen-80-stiff
